About the Role

An experienced London Market claims professional is required to manage a diverse portfolio of specialty claims, with a primary focus on professional liability matters for Large Client and Specialist Risks insureds in the US, UK, and RoW. The role will also involve handling Transactional Risk / Representations & Warranties Insurance and Environmental Liability matters. This position supports Beazley’s vision of being the highest performing specialist insurer by contributing to the proactive management of mid to high value insurance claims.

Responsibilities

  • Manage insurance claims of varying severity and complexity proactively from notification to closure.
  • Develop, iterate, document, and execute claims strategies.
  • Implement Beazley’s Conduct Risk Policy.
  • Manage an insurance claims portfolio to optimize performance.
  • Review individual claims within the portfolio regularly and ensure reserves and claims records are maintained.
  • Identify issues and trends in the portfolio and take appropriate action.
  • Communicate material claims to Reinsurance and Finance.
  • Work with Reinsurance to effect claims recoveries.
  • Maintain awareness of Beazley claims function's strategic objectives.
  • Develop an understanding of marketing and underwriting strategies.
  • Contribute to business development and renewal opportunities by attending client meetings.
  • Provide inputs to underwriters on review of potential or existing insured’s claims experience.
  • Identify claims trends and developments and communicate their potential impact.
  • Identify wordings issues and suggest policy wording improvements.
  • Operate within approved claims authorities.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry regulations and minimum standards.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and Beazley’s claims control standards and protocols.
  • Adhere to Beazley’s procedures for the selection and retention of third-party professionals.
  • Hold ownership and accountability for delegated relationships.
  • Review TPA performance data.
  • Conduct file reviews or audits as required.
  • Provide feedback on claim actions undertaken by the Third-Party Administrator (TPA).
  • Propose strategies for future claims handling.
  • Work proactively to develop and manage strong relations with key brokers and cedants.
  • Promote the Beazley brand of excellence and professionalism.
  • Ensure the management of claims conforms to agreed standardized processes.
  • Contribute to a continuous improvement culture within the claims function.
  • Support the Claims Business Management Team and Claims Solutions Team.
  • Assist claims management and peers to develop, mentor and empower junior staff.
  • Ensure junior staff have the necessary knowledge and skills.
  • Serve as a positive role model for junior staff.
  • Adhere to Beazley’s Conflicts of Interest policy.
  • Comply with Beazley procedures, policies and regulations.
  • Undertake training on Beazley policies and procedures.
  • Display business ethics that uphold the interests of all customers.
  • Ensure all interactions with customers focus on delivering a fair outcome.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as individually notified.

Requirements

  • At least four years of experience managing specialty insurance claims of varying severity levels, including London Market professional indemnity claims in the United States, Canada, Australia, and the UK.
  • Legal training or technical claims experience applying liability analysis, reserving judgment, and settlement negotiation skills to complex disputes.
  • Functional knowledge of claims management, the US and RoW insurance markets, relevant legal and regulatory environments, and alternative dispute resolution approaches.
  • Adjuster license(s) may be required; if required, licenses must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.
