About the Role
The Utility Specialist will manage the power acquisition process for IKE deployments in a designated region, from initial site identification through to energization. This role is critical as power acquisition is often the longest and most schedule-impacting phase of our deployment process.
Responsibilities
- Manage the utility availability inquiry during the siting phase to confirm the serving utility, potential power source, and realistic service availability before site commitment.
- Identify and flag sites where power availability poses a challenge early in the process, when changes are less costly.
- Prepare and submit utility applications and service agreements, and manage them through the utility review process.
- Oversee make-ready design and construction to ensure utility work is completed prior to kiosk installation.
- Coordinate meter set, inspection, and final energization with utilities, Project Managers, and field crews.
- Sequence utility work in alignment with the construction schedule to ensure timely energization post-installation.
- Act as the primary IKE contact for utilities in assigned markets, fostering regular communication.
- Document each utility's specific processes, typical lead times, fee structures, escalation procedures, and requirements.
- Manage the backlog of sites awaiting energization, actively tracking and escalating aging items.
- Provide weekly reports on submitted applications, make-ready status, energization forecasts, and sites at risk.
- Develop and implement a standardized utility workflow and define necessary milestones for measurable progress tracking in SiteTracker.
- Travel to assigned markets as needed for utility meetings and field coordination.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience coordinating electrical service or utility work for infrastructure, telecom, construction, or similar deployment programs.
- Direct experience submitting utility applications and managing service requests through to completion.
- Working knowledge of make-ready processes, service design, metering, and inspection sequencing.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with utility personnel.
- Strong organizational skills and follow-through, with a proven ability to manage tasks to completion.
- Experience with SiteTracker, Salesforce, or a similar project tracking system.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to travel as required by business needs.
