About the Role
This role is critical for providing strategic, AI-specific guidance to insiders within frontier AI companies who have concerns. You will focus on identifying critical disclosure scenarios, developing necessary guidance, and ensuring it reaches those who need it, aiming to maximize impact and minimize risk for individuals raising concerns. This position offers significant autonomy, budget, and headcount responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute research to identify and address guidance gaps for AI company insiders.
- Conduct stakeholder consultations and scenario workshops to develop guidance.
- Commission and manage fellows and contractors for research activities.
- Design and publish automations for problem discovery, research, and network maintenance.
- Convert research insights into actionable processes and guidance for insiders, partner attorneys, and support organizations.
- Train insiders and partner organizations on developed guidance.
- Build and maintain a trusted expert network for rapid consultation.
- Develop preparedness plans for optimal response to disclosures within hours.
- Advise on AIWI's strategic priorities, including risk categories, company functions, and disclosure types.
- Initiate new projects to close gaps in the 'whistleblowing chain', such as enabling safe coordination for disclosures.
- Collaborate closely with the policy team.
Requirements

- Track record of independently managing complex projects, including recruiting and managing collaborators.
- Past employment at a frontier company with firsthand understanding of organizational practices in AI development.
- Technical understanding sufficient to assess the degree of concern in technical issues.
- Epistemic humility, with a willingness to seek feedback and involve diverse voices.
- Evidence of ability to communicate effectively with non-technical audiences.
- Possession of a relevant, trusted network.
- Deep interest in rapidly gaining understanding of whistleblowing, legal, and security domains.
- Must be authorized to work in the US; visa sponsorship is not provided.
