About the Role
The Credit Analyst II will be responsible for making credit decisions within their authorized credit limit and preparing detailed credit analysis with recommendations for transactions exceeding this limit. Key responsibilities include performing underwriting analysis, providing direction on transaction structuring, conducting financial analysis to support creditworthiness, and ensuring compliance with corporate credit policies.
Responsibilities
- Perform underwriting analysis of borrower character, creditworthiness, and financial condition.
- Provide direction and leadership on transaction structure, terms, conditions, security, and covenant recommendations.
- Conduct research, financial, and statistical analysis to determine and support client creditworthiness while minimizing risk exposure.
- Spread and analyze business financial statements and/or tax returns with a strong understanding of bank statement analysis, cash flow reports, financial ratios, and trends.
- Ensure compliance with corporate credit policies and procedures.
- Interact with the senior leadership team.
- Proactively identify areas requiring process improvements and propose creative solutions.
- Conduct analyses to determine causes and cures for delinquency.
- Understand market changes and remain knowledgeable of industry issues.
- Complete ad hoc requests as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Business Credit underwriting and risk management in a financial services environment.
- Strong understanding of commercial business structures.
- Familiarity with acceptable financing options and techniques.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of business financial statements, business case, bank statement and cash flow analysis, commercial lending security documentation, including collection/work out techniques and remedies.
- Excellent communication skills and computer competency (word processing/spreadsheet).
- Excellent credit writing skills.
- Demonstrates innovative and creative approaches to solving difficult challenges and seizing opportunities.
- Proven ability to identify and quantify subtle business risks.
- Ability to identify key drivers of risk and focus discussions accordingly.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment.
- Works well in a team environment.
- Able to prioritize and plan workload.
- Able to meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated.
