About the Role
We are seeking a Consultant/Senior Consultant with expertise in Canadian wealth management operations, from industry economics to back-office functions. This role involves assisting banks, investment dealers, and mutual fund dealers in shaping and executing changes within their wealth businesses, spanning strategy to implementation. The ideal candidate can effectively communicate with executives on strategic matters and with operations teams on detailed functional processes.
Responsibilities
- Support strategy engagements including current-state assessments, target-state and operating model definition, business cases, and transformation roadmaps.
- Execute transformation programs such as platform replacements, back-office conversions, operating model changes, and digital advice or self-directed launches.
- Map current-state and future-state processes across the wealth value chain, covering account opening, KYC, trading, settlement, custody, transfers, corporate actions, fees, billing, client reporting, and tax slips.
- Translate business needs into clear requirements, user stories, process flows, and data mappings for delivery teams.
- Assist with vendor and platform assessments and selections for recordkeeping, back-office, and advisor technology.
- Plan and support data migrations and conversions, including reconciliation, cutover planning, and post-go-live stabilization.
- Ensure regulatory requirements, including CIRO rules, client-focused reforms, and account transfer standards, are considered in all work.
- Build trusted relationships with client stakeholders at all levels and communicate progress, risks, and recommendations effectively.
- Contribute to the firm's wealth practice through thought leadership, reusable assets, and proposal support.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in wealth management, either in consulting, industry, or a combination.
- Hands-on experience in at least one wealth operations area: mutual fund dealer/manufacturer operations, full-service brokerage, discount/self-directed brokerage, or bank-owned wealth businesses.
- Working understanding of the wealth management industry structure, including the roles of manufacturers, dealers, advisors, custodians, service providers, and the flow of money, orders, and data.
- Experience with at least one strategy or transformation engagement (e.g., current-state assessment, target-state design, business case, roadmap, platform implementation, back-office conversion).
- Familiarity with the Canadian wealth ecosystem, including industry infrastructure like FundSERV and CDS, and common back-office/recordkeeping providers.
- Strong business analysis skills, including process mapping, requirements gathering, and data analysis.
- Clear writing and presentation skills, with comfort interacting with both executives and operations teams.
- A post-secondary degree or equivalent experience.
- Ability to travel (US and Canada).
