Responsibilities

  • Scan and replenish stock materials to Nursing, Clinical, and Support Areas using a handheld scanner.
  • Respond to supply-related calls from customers, demonstrating good customer service.
  • Monitor cart activity and report deficiencies to the Supervisor.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly labeled carts.
  • Rotate stock using the first-in/first-out method to reduce obsolescence or expiry.
  • Transfer stock between carts to prevent stockouts and report to the Supervisor.
  • Consolidate received supplies from the Distribution Centre for maximum efficiency.
  • Check DC packing slips against ordered quantities and report discrepancies, shortages, over-shipments, or damaged goods.
  • Return empty carts, skids, and totes to Stores for return to the Distribution Centre, removing any waste.
  • Exercise safe handling and transport of goods in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and hospital policies.
  • Coordinate and deliver goods and materials to customers in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate shipments that are sensitive or require special attention, ensuring timely delivery of perishable or sensitive items.
  • Enter receipt of goods into SAP within 24 to 48 hours of receiving.
  • Deliver orders from the Plexxus Distribution Centre to units for replenishment of supply carts.
  • Organize the receiving dock.
  • Answer phone calls and assist customers.
  • Monitor and control visitor access for security purposes and safely direct reversing trucks to the receiving dock.
  • Work closely with purchasing agents, end-users, and vendors to ensure smooth delivery of shipments.
  • Act as a role model and champion for safe, best practices in daily activities.

Requirements

  • Must reside and be legally eligible to work in Ontario.
  • Completion of high school or recognized equivalent.
  • One to two (1-2) years of practical and related experience.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job including lifting, pulling heavy carts, continuous standing and walking.
  • Ability to lift 30 to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to use common work equipment such as computerized inventory system, scanner, photocopier, telephone, lift trucks, tow motor.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and good judgment with the ability to multi-task.
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of medical product terminology and basic math skills.
  • May be required to work at multiple areas as well as rotating shifts in emergency situations.
  • Proven ability to attend work on a regular basis.
  • Professional behavior and communication that meets applicable standards.
  • Plays a critical role in acting as an advocate for safety and will demonstrate principles, practices and processes that will optimize a safe environment for all.
  • Conditional upon verification of credentials, completion of a health review, and proof of immunity and vaccination status.
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete the Employee, Physician and Volunteer Immunization Record Submission Form and the Pre-Placement Health Review Form prior to commencing employment.
