About the Role
Join a collaborative multidisciplinary team working on diverse urban realm, active travel, highway improvement, and sustainable transport schemes. Lead project delivery, mentor engineers, and grow our Urban Realm capability.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of urban realm, highways and traffic engineering projects.
- Develop designs from feasibility and concept stage through to detailed design and construction support.
- Act as a technical lead and design checker.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including structures, drainage, lighting and landscape specialists.
- Manage project budgets, programmes and resources.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians.
- Contribute to proposals, bids and business development activities.
- Undertake site visits, surveys and construction support where required.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, specifications and quality procedures.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Typically 5+ years' experience in highways, urban realm or traffic engineering design.
- Experience delivering projects in public realm schemes, active travel infrastructure, bus priority and public transport improvements, junction design, Section 278 works, road safety schemes, 20mph zones and traffic calming measures, parking and streetscape projects, utility coordination and diversions, or highway drainage design.
- Strong knowledge of UK highway design standards and guidance.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams.
- Ability to review and check technical designs and drawings.
- Understanding of highway construction methods, materials and specifications.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and associated design software.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and report-writing skills.
- Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status, or actively working towards professional registration (Desirable).
- Experience delivering projects for Local Authorities, Transport for London or National Highways (Desirable).
- Experience using Civil 3D and/or OpenRoads (Desirable).
- Experience supporting tenders, bids and work-winning activities (Desirable).
