About the Role
Pliteq is seeking engineering interns to work closely in one or more of the following areas: Business Development, Process Engineering, R&D & Quality in the Lab, and AutoCad Take-Offs. This internship offers the opportunity to contribute creatively to new product development, improve manufacturing processes, ensure product quality, and draft engineering drawings for global construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Assist in all aspects of major projects requiring acoustical design solutions and/or using Pliteq and competitor products.
- Assist in project identification and tracking.
- Schedule meetings with architects for technical data presentations.
- Create opportunities for Pliteq product specifications.
- Contribute creatively to new product development and other business areas.
- Manage a campaign focused on a specific product class and project application.
- Assist in the creation of technical documentation.
- Identify ways to improve the overall manufacturing process (quality, cost, efficiency, safety).
- Develop and troubleshoot new equipment during initial start-up.
- Support production with problem-solving and assist maintenance with equipment/process issues.
- Monitor and reduce scrap levels, and disposition seconds into usable product.
- Review products for quality and conformance standards.
- Inspect, collect, prepare, and test samples to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
- Assist in developing quality standards and providing quality systems training.
- Draft AutoCAD take-off engineering drawings for construction projects, the Pliteq website, and sales/installation support.
- Become a subject matter expert in producing layout drawings using CAD software.
- Gain knowledge to provide individualized recommendations on products based on customers' acoustical needs.
- Work closely with engineers, managers, and other employees, completing tasks timely.
- Incorporate academic knowledge into hands-on work.
- Undertake projects and tasks as requested by engineers.
- Perform data collection and analysis as assigned.
- Attend and participate in meetings, workshops, events, exhibitions, and tradeshows.
- Compile product samples and literature for client requests and tradeshows.
- Coordinate engineering test reports onto a secure website by uploading reports, inputting data, creating/uploading drawings, and updating database information.
- Organize engineering drawing database, including cataloging, cross-checking for discrepancies, and updating with new drawings.
- Organize drawing database on Google Drive, including cataloging and updating for each Pliteq product offering.
- Answer customer requests pleasantly via phone or email.
- Identify potential weaknesses in processes/systems and offer improvement suggestions.
- Perform data entry into ERP programs.
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in post-secondary education at a recognized institution.
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s of Engineering program preferred.
- Experience working with CAD software considered an asset.
- Thrive in a team-oriented and autonomous work environment.
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
