About the Role
Carnegie Hill Veterinarians is seeking an Experienced Veterinary Technician Assistant for a busy, collaborative practice in New York City. This role offers the opportunity to provide hands-on patient care, utilize your skills across various medical and surgical support functions, and work closely with a dedicated veterinary team.
Responsibilities
- Support doctors and LVTs during appointments and examinations
- Assist with treatments and patient nursing care
- Perform venipuncture and blood sample collection
- Place IV catheters
- Prepare patients and equipment for procedures
- Assist with surgical and anesthesia-related patient care
- Support patients throughout recovery
- Collect and prepare laboratory samples
- Assist with diagnostic imaging
- Maintain clean, organized, and well-prepared treatment and patient-care areas
- Communicate with pet parents and fellow team members
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Collaborate with the team to ensure efficient patient care flow
Requirements
- Previous veterinary hospital or general practice experience
- Strong hands-on technical and patient-care skills
- Confidence with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and treatments
- Experience supporting surgical and anesthesia cases
- Comfort working in a busy clinical environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A dependable, proactive approach to supporting the hospital
- Compassionate and thoughtful animal handling
- Ability to recognize where help is needed and work as part of the larger team
- Genuine commitment to providing excellent patient care
