About the Role

The Asset Management Coordinator is responsible for maintaining an up-to-date understanding of asset conditions and functioning within the Regional Water Supply Division. This role recommends and implements asset renewal, repair, and replacement strategies, and ensures necessary equipment testing for safe and consistent system operation.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the Asset Management Plan for regional water systems, including updates of asset valuation and condition assessment.
  • Maintain and update the asset registry and asset management system.
  • Establish asset replacement priorities for Capital and Operating Programs by analyzing computerized data inventories, studies, reports, and condition assessments.
  • Monitor the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and recommend improvements for data collection and utilization.
  • Undertake periodic audits to ensure consistency and accuracy of data in the CMMS and other related databases.
  • Manage condition assessments of regional water system assets and monitor assessments conducted by third parties.
  • Review and apply vendor specifications and other operations control requirements.
  • Prepare procurement documents for Consulting Engineers and recommend proposals for approval.
  • Prepare designs, estimates, and agreements for construction and maintenance works.
  • Coordinate the work of consultants, including technical review and preparation of engineering comments on submissions.
  • Schedule, arrange, attend, and chair meetings with contracted operators, consultants, contractors, and external agencies.
  • Review payment certificates, change orders, purchase orders, and invoices for contractors and consultants.
  • Administer capital works projects, monitoring compliance with standards, specifications, policies, procedures, and Health and Safety regulations.
  • Communicate needs and objectives of Regional Water leadership to contracted operators and respond to contractor inquiries.
  • Analyze data related to asset conditions, predictive maintenance, and repairs to make recommendations on asset investments and lifecycle renewals.
  • Assist project managers and divisional staff with data for business case preparation related to assets.
  • Provide data and information to assist in the development of annual Capital Budgets.
  • Monitor, reconcile, and liaise with the Finance/Tangible Capital Assets group regarding regional water system assets.
  • Prepare reports and supporting documentation for Water Supply System Boards of Management.
  • Conduct and coordinate technical review and prepare engineering responses on water transmission and treatment plant requirements.
  • Prepare, investigate, develop, and recommend new and changes to existing technical standards, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum three-year community college civil engineering diploma or equivalent.
  • Full member of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologist (OACETT) or Associate Member with full Certified Engineering Technologist status within three years.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in an engineering or technology related field.
  • Experience must include project management and contract administration.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (word processing and spreadsheets).
  • Ability to use database and asset management software.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical reports, studies, assessments, engineering drawings, and specifications.
  • Ability to understand and apply regulatory policies and guidelines.
  • Valid G Driver's Licence.
  • Ability to travel to various sites associated with Regional Water Supply.
  • Working knowledge of Confined Space Entry practices.
  • Standard or Intermediate First Aid with CPR certification.

Salary/Compensations

  • $62,220 - $90,408 (Level 14)
