About the Role
We are building an elite team applying frontier technologies to solve the world's biggest financial problems. We seek bold thinkers and sharp problem-solvers who are wired to make an impact. This is a high-performing, fast-moving team where ambitious people do the best work of their careers. The Prime team is building Bitstamp's prime brokerage for institutional clients, a platform for hedge funds, market makers, and professional trading firms to onboard, fund, trade, borrow against, and settle positions at scale. We build correctness-critical systems where a wrong answer cannot be cheaply undone.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and end-to-end delivery of features across the stack, from Prime backend services to frontend and backoffice screens.
- Own the client- and ops-facing journeys across the institutional lifecycle, including onboarding, account configuration, reporting, and operational tooling.
- Author detailed designs, breaking work into reviewable steps, and explicitly addressing failure states, invariants, and recovery.
- Uplevel the team through design-focused code review and mentorship.
- Move fluidly between backend and frontend as the work demands.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support business needs.
Requirements
- A track record of independently delivering complex, high-ambiguity projects with long-term impact, operating them in production and owning every line shipped.
- Strong full-stack range in production, including a modern backend (Python/Django, Go) and a component-based frontend (Vue).
- Judgment to know where a given problem is best solved and a willingness to own features wherever they live in the stack.
- Hands-on experience building financial systems (user balances, ledgers, risk engines, settlement, onboarding/KYC, or payments) where correctness is non-negotiable.
- Strong design judgment, including enumerating failure paths, naming invariants, and identifying constraints, tests, or alerts that enforce them.
- Excellent communication skills for driving alignment, providing substantive design-level review feedback, and mentoring engineers.
