About the Role

The Credit Risk Specialist will support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the organization’s Lending Policy, ensuring frameworks, policies, standards, and procedures align with the business’s risk appetite, regulatory expectations, and governance requirements. This role involves providing policy guidance, supporting framework changes, maintaining controls, and promoting consistent credit risk application across the business.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Senior Credit Risk Manager, 2nd line team, and 1st line teams with credit risk knowledge.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of the bank's lending policy.
  • Provide input and challenge on framework and policy updates or implementation.
  • Maintain awareness of key business activities and emerging risks, identifying areas for second-line oversight.
  • Perform thematic reviews and deep dives.
  • Provide oversight of credit risk aspects of regulatory reports and returns.
  • Manage and build internal relationships with key functions.
  • Attend risk and governance committees as required.
  • Perform activities delegated by the Senior Credit Risk Manager.
  • Provide ongoing risk input and support for projects.
  • Perform monthly quality assurance checks on underwriting and end-to-end processes.
  • Provide Line 2 advice and challenge on risk management to all business areas.
  • Conduct reviews and challenge of departmental process-level risk assessments.
