About the Role
As a Mechanical Shift Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring all environmental conditions and critical building systems are maintained to the highest standard. You will carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks and reactive/breakdown works on mechanical systems, requiring knowledge of HVAC, Hot & Cold-Water Systems, and Generators. Basic electrical knowledge is desirable.
Responsibilities
- Complete routine PPM on all mechanical plant in accordance with Site task schedules and asset lists.
- Manage reactive tasks throughout the building and proactively highlight areas for improvement.
- Address plant faults and defects swiftly to maintain plant in serviceable order.
- Maintain suitable spares to facilitate maintenance and reactive works.
- Provide parts lists and estimated timescales for remedial works.
- Complete all relevant paperwork regarding reactive and breakdown works.
- Prepare and use Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all tasks, ensuring safe working practices.
- Develop good working relationships with staff, subcontractors, and client representatives.
- Promote a safe and healthy working environment, including consistent wearing of uniform and PPE.
- Present the professional image of Smart Managed Solutions to clients.
- Maintain all plant rooms under responsibility in a clean and tidy condition.
- Supervise and monitor subcontractor works.
- Action assigned tasks and ensure completion.
- Complete directed tasks with appropriate H&S awareness and implementation.
- Monitor awareness of and compliance with contractual KPIs and SLAs.
- Update the Computer-Based Maintenance System (e.g., Maximo) with accurate data.
- Operate a Permit to Work System in accordance with procedures and client requirements.

- Ability to fault find using graphical information and current alarm data.
- Basic electrical knowledge is desirable.
