About the Role
The Truck Driver / Furniture Mover is responsible for safely operating a box truck to pick up donated furniture and household items in Suffolk County. This role supports the mission of St. Vincent de Paul by facilitating the resale of donated goods.
Responsibilities
- Operate a company truck in compliance with New York State and local traffic laws
- Load and unload furniture and large household items using proper lifting techniques and moving equipment
- Inspect donated items for quality and condition at pickup
- Communicate acceptance guidelines respectfully to donors
- Follow all safety protocols, including proper lifting techniques
- Maintain accurate pickup manifests and donor receipt records
Requirements
- Valid New York State driver's license with a clean driving record (MVR check required)
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs regularly
- Ability to maneuver large/bulky furniture with a team
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for donor-facing interactions
- Ability to work in varying weather and physical conditions
- Familiarity with Suffolk County area
