About the Role
This role is part of the global investor intelligence editorial team, focusing on expanding investor coverage in the Asia-Pacific region. The position involves covering institutional and private wealth investors, with an emphasis on alternative investments like private equity, private credit, real assets, and hedge funds. The role offers an opportunity to build a strong regional profile, develop market expertise, and contribute to significant industry discussions.
Responsibilities
- Deliver exclusive, off-diary reporting on allocator activity across Asia-Pacific.
- Produce proprietary, forward-looking, and actionable intelligence for subscribers.
- Identify emerging trends and market developments for deeper analysis.
- Pitch and write insightful trend stories and longer-form analysis.
- Consistently meet and exceed editorial performance objectives.
- Build and maintain a strong network of sources across investors, consultants, and service providers.
- Develop deep expertise in Asia-Pacific investing trends across private markets and hedge funds.
- Become a trusted source of market intelligence for the global editorial team.
- Monitor industry developments and competitor activity to identify coverage opportunities.
- Collaborate with editorial colleagues across regions for a coordinated global coverage strategy.
- Partner with Data and Insights teams to enhance market coverage quality and relevance.
- Support the development of reports, research initiatives, and other editorial intelligence efforts.
- Contribute ideas and market knowledge to expand and strengthen coverage in Asia-Pacific.
- Conduct interviews with senior industry participants and represent the company professionally.
- Attend industry conferences, networking events, and meetings.
- Contribute to webinars, reports, podcasts, and videos.
- Help strengthen the company's reputation as a leading source of private markets and hedge fund intelligence in Asia-Pacific.
Requirements
- At least five years' experience covering financial services, asset management, or private markets in reporting and/or editing roles.
- Business-level Japanese and English language skills.
- Experience covering LPs and strong knowledge of private equity, private credit, or alternative investments is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to generate exclusive stories and build a strong network of industry contacts.
- Strong interviewing, source-development, and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex market developments clearly and concisely.
- Intellectual curiosity and a genuine interest in private markets, investment strategies, and industry trends.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a global team environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced news environment.
- Willingness to work from the Tokyo office under a hybrid-working arrangement and attend industry events across the region.
- A university degree is essential.
- A postgraduate journalism qualification is preferred.
