About the Role
Oversee and manage the recruitment, onboarding, and integration for all lateral partners in the firm’s West Coast offices, reporting to the Senior Director of Legal Recruiting. Work closely with Department Chairs, Office Managing Partners, and other stakeholders to identify, assess, and recruit lateral partners and groups in alignment with the firm’s lateral hiring priorities and growth strategy.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify hiring needs, strategic growth priorities, and target candidates.
- Conduct market research and obtain competitive intelligence to build a robust lateral partner pipeline.
- Track information and analyze competitive data, best practices, and trends to provide strategic recommendations.
- Cultivate relationships with search firm recruiters, counterparts in other firms, and industry groups.
- Develop strategies and tactics for identifying and contacting potential candidates.
- Create bespoke recruitment approaches for each lateral partner candidate.
- Review interview evaluations, LPQs, and business plans to identify areas for further analysis.
- Develop and implement partner recruitment initiatives that support diversity commitment and goals.
- Strategize to create effective marketing materials to support lateral partner recruiting objectives.
- Supervise and contribute to the professional development of other members of the Legal Recruiting team.
- Represent the firm in local and national legal recruiting organizations.
- Perform other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 6+ years of legal recruiting/talent management experience in a law firm or other professional services setting, including experience with lateral partner recruiting.
- Bachelor's Degree Required; J.D. Preferred.
- Existing network of relationships with productive recruiters and search firms at the partner candidate level required.
- Prior experience managing direct reports strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of the legal market and relationships in legal professional groups and other organizations related to the legal industry.
- Sophisticated strategic and analytical thinking, drive, initiative, and demonstrated problem-solving ability required.
- Effective client service skills, with proven organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders and candidates at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proficiency in legal recruiting databases and applicant tracking programs (e.g., LawCruit, viDesktop, Firm Prospects).
- Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule that will occasionally require travel and extended hours.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and to recognize and treat confidential information in a professional manner.
