About the Role

This is a key technical position within our national Fire Protection team, offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to take ownership of complex and high-profile infrastructure, buildings, and defence projects. You will provide specialist fire protection engineering expertise across all project phases, from concept development through to detailed design and delivery. Working closely with project managers, discipline leads, and clients, you will lead the design and delivery of fire protection systems, provide technical guidance to developing engineers and designers, and contribute to the continued growth of KBR's Fire Protection capability across Australia.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of complex fire protection systems across major projects.
  • Provide technical leadership and quality assurance for fire services designs, calculations, and documentation.
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables produced by other team members.
  • Act as a key client interface and trusted technical advisor.
  • Support bid preparation, business development, and project planning activities.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and designers within the Fire Protection team.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in fire protection engineering practices.
  • Ensure all project outcomes meet relevant safety, regulatory, and commercial requirements.

Requirements

  • Must be an Australian citizen due to the focus on defence projects.
  • Technically strong and commercially aware professional with extensive experience delivering complex fire protection solutions across buildings, infrastructure, and/or defence environments.
  • Comfortable leading projects, guiding junior team members, and acting as a trusted advisor to clients.
  • Ability to balance technical excellence with practical project outcomes to develop innovative and compliant fire protection solutions.
  • NSW Wet and Dry Fire Accreditation (FPAS, FSD Accreditation, C14/C8 Registered Certifier or equivalent).
  • Extensive experience designing, reviewing, and delivering wet and dry fire services systems.
  • Proven capability in preparing and reviewing fire protection specifications, reports, calculations, and technical documentation.
  • Strong understanding of the National Construction Code (NCC), Australian Standards, and fire protection industry requirements.
  • Ability to lead technical delivery across multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience managing client relationships and engaging directly with key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing junior engineers and designers.
  • Strong knowledge of multidisciplinary design coordination and engineering delivery processes.
  • Working knowledge of Revit MEP is desirable.
