About the Role

SFAF is looking for a talented and compassionate Medical Assistant to provide clinical support at Strut, our sexual health clinic. This position will ensure efficient operations and quality care to patients, supporting them and clinicians through patient care management, examination, and treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient intake, including collecting medical and sexual health history, recording patient vitals, providing patient education and counseling, assisting with exams, and performing lab tests.
  • Assist clinicians with the examination and treatment of patients.
  • Prepare exam and procedure rooms, assuring adequate stock of medical supplies; sterilize instruments; maintain standard inventory items, including medical and patient educational supplies.
  • Perform lab tests, including venipuncture/phlebotomy, and prepare specimens for transport to outside labs.
  • Enter data into the electronic health record accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform routine clerical and reception work, including assisting clients, answering phones, maintaining records, entering chart data, and billing.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-2 years of work as a Medical Assistant required.
  • Experience with venipuncture/phlebotomy highly regarded.
  • Experience working with vaccine administration, patient vital signs, room turnover, patient education, and communicating labs and medication to patients.
  • Certification by the California Certifying Board for Medical Assistants (CCBMA) or equivalent.
  • Comfortable working with a diverse range of clients from various backgrounds, racial and ethnic identities, gender presentations, and sexualities.
  • Willing to become HIV Test Counseling (HTC) Certified within 6 months of starting.

Salary/Compensations

  • $36 - $37 Per Hour

Benefits

  • Combined PTO/Sick Time Off of 27+ days for the first two years of employment, 32+ days after two years of employment.
  • 403(b) Plan with SFAF matching employee contributions (1 to 1) up to 3% of Salary.
