About the Role
Serve as a Team Leader and Manager within the Structural Engineering Team, applying structural engineering knowledge to diverse construction projects. Provide technical oversight, team coordination, and lead design teams through the engineering process and plan development.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to mid-career and early career professionals.
- Serve as the senior reviewer of calculations and structural models.
- Assist in the coordination of workloads and project task priorities within the Structural Team.
- Coordinate with regional and practice Business leaders to develop scopes of work and levels of effort for proposals.
- Attend site walks and client meetings as necessary.
- Develop new opportunities for above grade structure design, tank design, and low-rise buildings.
- Support the development of Statement of Qualifications.
- Serve as Engineer of Record.
- Provide quality control of construction documents.
- Perform Structural Condition Assessments.
- Contribute as a designer and detailer.
- Coordinate with the Technical Manager on the development of standards and work flow processes.
- Perform structural value engineering, third party design and constructability review, and risk assessment.
- Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a structural engineering focus.
- Professional registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.).
- At least 8 years directly relevant experience in a design environment.
- Minimum of 5 years managing direct reports.
- Experience in the design and detailing of steel connections and reinforced concrete.
- Experience in repair/retrofit design of concrete and steel structures.
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, and meeting strict deadlines.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel.
Skills
- Knowledge of relevant structural engineering design and detailing software (RISA, ETABS, RAM, SAP2000, SAFE, GSA, etc.).
- Knowledge of design collaboration software (Bluebeam Studio).
- Operation of CAD/VDC/BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).
- Knowledge of general numerical modeling tools.
- Experience working within the construction sector or performing design work for contractors/construction managers.
- Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers.
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing.
