About the Role

The Resource Recovery Center of Orange County provides care to individuals with Alcohol and Substance Use Disorders. This role supports clients in a NY State OASAS certified program, coordinating engagement from pre-admission through discharge, and ensuring adherence to organizational values and best practices in client care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide aid to individuals with substance use disorders in a NY State OASAS certified program.
  • Coordinate client engagement, including pre-admissions, safety screenings, and orientation.
  • Monitor and encourage client participation in daily program routines.
  • Ensure a "best practice approach" to client care.
  • Act as a role model to facilitate client motivation.
  • Communicate effectively within the interdisciplinary team.
  • Ensure seamless and consistent shift-to-shift transitions.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and therapeutic program environment.
  • Provide courteous and engaging customer service.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of clients, visitors, and personnel.
  • Support evacuation drills and emergency code responses.
  • Ensure proper response to significant incidents and timely reporting.
  • Observe and monitor clients, providing trauma-informed redirection.
  • Communicate client activity to interdisciplinary teams.
  • Assist with locating clients and escorting them to appointments.
  • Assist with meals and monitor the dining area.
  • Assist with nicotine dosing administration.
  • Support proper room searches for contraband.
  • Monitor facility premises, access points, and activity areas.
  • Ensure clients' basic needs are met.
  • Perform routine room checks.
  • Supervise client leisure time and recreation activities.
  • Escort clients to mealtimes, groups, and activities.
  • Support collection of urine specimens for drug toxicology.
  • Maintain accurate records on shift reports.
  • Provide supportive feedback and participate in teamwork.
  • Adhere to company service and operating standards.
  • Remain in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Adhere to dress code policy.
  • Coordinate bed and room assignments.
  • Assure clients follow daily schedules.
  • Ensure the dining room is cleaned and the Search Room is stocked (Overnight).
  • Conduct hourly room checks (Overnight).
  • Participate in interdepartmental staff meetings.
  • Participate in shift exchange meetings and complete standardized shift communication.
  • Complete all assigned trainings in a timely fashion.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One (1) year related work experience preferred.
  • Familiar with DSP, BHT, Milieu Counselor in Mental Health.
