About the Role

As a Justice Officer, you will provide a broad range of administrative support and serve as the first point of contact for the public and clients of the Court system. Responsibilities include receiving and balancing monies paid into the court, entering and retrieving data from automated systems, recording and processing documentation, adhering to policies, and maintaining filing systems. You may also be required to attend Court to call cases, swear witnesses, and perform quasi-judicial duties as a Staff Justice of the Peace.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and respond to requests relating to all court matters by telephone, fax, and email.
  • Receive and receipt all monies paid to the court, balance daily receipts, and prepare bank deposits.
  • Process correspondence and other documentation received electronically, by mail, fax, or otherwise.
  • Maintain court filing systems by entering data, filing and retrieving documents, and forwarding information as required.
  • Maintain records management and retention systems in accordance with policy.
  • Schedule court cases and monitor the court calendar.
  • Provide a broad range of administrative support services.
  • Provide legal information to the public regarding court system navigation, forms, and procedures.

Requirements

  • One year post-secondary education in a related field plus three years related experience, or an acceptable equivalent.
  • Experience and competency in a computerized environment with proficient and accurate keyboarding and data entry skills.
  • Experience adapting to rapidly evolving technologies and procedures.
  • Ability to deal effectively with the public in a multifaceted and stressful environment, often in confrontational and sensitive situations.
  • Must be able to display a completely impartial attitude at all times.
  • Offer of employment is conditional upon the completion of all applicable background checks and confirmation of credentials.
