About the Role
City Veterinary Care is committed to helping New York City's dogs and cats by addressing pet overpopulation through its non-profit, The Toby Project. Our team of veterinarians, front desk staff, and veterinary nurses provide comprehensive care, including preventative services, diagnostics, and specialty treatments using state-of-the-art equipment.
Responsibilities
- Pet restraint
- Triage incoming patients
- Diagnostic imaging
- Communicate treatment plans effectively with clients
- Surgical preparation and assistance
- Withstand unpleasant odors and noises
- Handle potential exposure to bites, scratches, animal waste, and contagious diseases
Requirements
- 3 years of previous experience as a veterinary technician or in a related field
- Anesthesia experience required
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures
- Familiarity with pet care practices and techniques
- Proficiency in handling and restraining animals safely and effectively
- Experience with laboratory procedures and sample collection
- Ability to operate X-ray equipment and develop X-ray films
- Knowledge of basic animal husbandry practices, including feeding, exercise, and hygiene
- Authorization and completion of a satisfactory pre-employment screening may be required for hiring eligibility
