About the Role

The DSP Team Lead will lead their team in day-to-day operations and support the implementation of a new community-based program, a critical aspect of the Human Rights Remedy. This role involves guiding teams through ambiguity, creating safe spaces, and developing effective partnerships to empower individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the delivery of Disability Support Programs, ensuring regional needs are met.
  • Providing recommendations for program improvements and monitoring their delivery and evaluation.
  • Full responsibility for the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of team members, as well as discipline, performance management, and grievance procedures.
  • Leading the team through change, providing coaching, performance management, conflict resolution, and professional development.
  • Mentoring the team to achieve short-term and long-term departmental priorities.
  • Building and nurturing partnerships within communities, including leading the promotion of local and people-centered services and developing leadership of persons with disabilities in program improvement.
  • Championing inclusivity and human-centered approaches in all aspects of work.
  • Fostering authentic professional relationships in the workplace and community.

Requirements

  • Completed post-secondary education in Management, Social Sciences, Disability Supports, Human/Social Services or Health Care Related fields, plus several years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Several years of related experience in the implementation of disability services and programs.
  • Team leadership experience.
  • Strong relationship management skills to partner with community members and develop/implement individual-specific services.
  • Leadership skills to help the team navigate changes aligning with the new DSP framework.
  • Collaborative work experience to maintain equitable and standardized processes for selection, onboarding, coaching, and management of team members.
  • Skills in interpreting information, particularly pertaining to the DSP remedy, and providing expert guidance for program delivery and compliance.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and empathy for conflict resolution and navigation in ambiguous situations.
  • Understanding of the challenging circumstances faced by individuals with disabilities and mental health conditions, and awareness of the compounded impact of intersectionality.
  • Ability to travel frequently within and occasionally outside of the region.
