About the Role
Brookdale Phillippi Creek is seeking a passionate and service-driven Dining Services Director to lead their culinary team in providing exceptional dining experiences for residents. This role involves menu planning, food preparation, team development, inventory management, scheduling, sanitation oversight, and maintaining quality dining services within budget. The Director will create a welcoming atmosphere, ensure safe and efficient meal preparation, and partner with community leadership to deliver excellent hospitality.
Responsibilities
- Directs food service operations including food preparation, dining room operations, and dining delivery services.
- Purchases food and manages inventory, ensuring cost controls, vendor service, and quality.
- Ensures the highest nutrition and food quality for residents.
- Complies with all federal, state, and local regulations for sanitary and safe operations.
- Plans and executes dining events and themes with other directors to enhance resident life.
- May cater events as requested.
- Hires, trains, and manages supervisory staff for kitchen, dining room, catering, and delivery services.
- Ensures supervisors maintain a safe and sanitary environment and provide a pleasurable dining experience.
- Coaches supervisors on staffing levels, motivation, discipline, and training.
- Consults with chefs and cooks to develop pleasing and nutritious menus.
- Assesses resident food preferences through surveys and daily contact.
- Incorporates resident preferences into menus and events.
- Coordinates with dieticians, nursing staff, and care associates regarding resident dietary needs.
- Develops department budget, including purchasing and staffing expenditures.
- Approves food orders and ensures proper inventory levels to minimize cost and waste.
- Monitors budget compliance and recommends changes.
- Encourages socialization and enjoyment through food presentation and events.
- Improves dining room décor and condition for a safe and pleasant experience.
- Networks with Regional Food Service Directors to improve operations, reduce costs, and obtain new program ideas.
Requirements
- College degree in food service or hospitality management is preferred.
- A minimum of eight years of progressive experience in the food service industry.
- At least three years of supervisory experience in food preparation and customer service.
- Experience managing food inventories and budgets.
- Current ServSafe Certification required.
- Obtain/hold any local, state, and/or county required food handling/sanitation licenses and/or certificates.
- Ability to manage a large number of associates directly and through supervisors.
- Ability to address staff, residents, and visitors in a courteous and friendly manner.
- Ability to understand the dining and nutritional needs of residents.
- Ability to incorporate residents’ desires into the dining services operation.
- Extensive knowledge of food preparation and delivery.
- Food and beverage background.
- Ability to manage a food service operation budget providing 3 meals per day, 7 days a week.
- Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations regarding food safety.

- Base pay in range will be determined by applicant’s skills and experience.
- Full-time associates in role are eligible for an annual bonus incentive and sales referral bonuses.
