About the Role
Events are central to Rec's go-to-market strategy, involving numerous industry events. This role requires active participation in trade shows, delivering product demonstrations, qualifying prospects, and booking meetings. The primary metric for this position is event-sourced pipeline, with qualified meetings as the leading indicator. This role focuses on turning event traffic into pipeline and requires follow-up, not event logistics. You will engage with two distinct buyer circuits: Municipal Parks and Recreation and private operators. This is a hands-on individual contributor role reporting to the Head of Growth Marketing.
Responsibilities
- Work Rec’s booth at key shows, initiating conversations with prospects and identifying genuine buyers.
- Deliver product demonstrations to directors and operators, showcasing a deep understanding of Rec.
- Own event-sourced pipeline as the primary metric, with qualified meetings booked as the leading indicator.
- Collaborate with Sales on pre-event account targeting and scheduling meetings.
- Manage post-event follow-through, including personal follow-up and handoffs to sales representatives.
- Participate in Rec Forward regional workshops, shaping invite lists and engaging attendees.
- Provide feedback to Product Marketing, Sales, and Product teams based on unfiltered buyer language.
Requirements
- 2 to 5 years in field marketing, event marketing, or a BDR/AE role with significant booth experience.
- Ability to learn and deeply demo a product.
- Comfortable initiating conversations and qualifying prospects without an interrogation style.
- Ability to differentiate between a busy show day and a productive one.
- Experience being measured on pipeline or meetings, not just attendance or lead counts.
- Ability to work effectively unsupervised, especially while on the road.
- Willingness to travel 40% to 50% during conference seasons.
- Ability to travel well and manage personal travel within a budget.
- Must be within easy reach of a major airport.
- Must be able to attend onsites in San Francisco several times a year.
