About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and patient school companion for a likable 3rd-grade student in Berlin-Schöneberg. This role involves approximately 20 hours per week during school hours, providing security and structure to help the student participate independently in class and social activities. The student benefits from support in attention, impulse control, and emotional regulation, and has interests in Minecraft, Nintendo Switch, and learning to swim.
Responsibilities
- Accompany the student throughout their school day.
- Provide security and structure for independent participation in class and social life.
- Support concentration on tasks and task completion.
- Assist in understanding and step-by-step completion of work assignments.
- Help manage impulsive reactions and challenging situations.
- Support self-regulation after feeling overwhelmed.
- Aid in navigating transitions and changes in the school day.
- Help the student navigate social situations.
- Encourage the development of independent strategies for school life.
Requirements
- Excellent German language skills.
- Patient, calm, and reliable personality.
- Enjoyment of working with children.
- Confident handling of impulsive behavior and challenging situations.
- Ideally, experience with children with ADHD.
- Pedagogical experience is advantageous but not required.
- Polish language skills are a plus but not a requirement.
- The student explicitly wishes for a male school companion.
