About the Role
The CAD Technologist is responsible for creating, implementing, and maintaining CAD standards for the company, as well as creating, updating, and maintaining Engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
Responsibilities
- Support the Engineering and Facilities staff in capital project execution through the entire project lifecycle.
- Create accurate engineering drawings from field measurements, sketches, calculations, specification sheets, and other data.
- Develop, implement, and enforce CAD standards for engineering drawings.
- Check and verify drawings conform to specifications and provided data.
- Contribute to the development of technology roadmaps and standards for product packaging equipment.
- Ensure timely support of internal departments requiring assistance with drawings or layouts.
- Follow company’s health and safety program, rules and procedures.
- Report all incidents, injuries, illnesses, and near misses to your Supervisor.
- Use or wear safety equipment and personal protective equipment required by the company.
- Report to supervisor any hazardous or unsafe conditions, absence or defects in equipment and any contravention of health and safety legislation.
- Collaborate with other members of the engineering department to develop new engineering or facilities design.
- Train the Facilities staff on CAD Standards.
- Ensure that third party vendors or contractors provide drawings that meet the company’s CAD standards.
- Develop and maintain relationships with equipment suppliers and service providers.
Requirements
- Completion of a college diploma in Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in Engineering/Manufacturing, preferably in the industrial bakery or food manufacturing industry.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in creating 2D and 3D models.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural construction documents and specifications.
- Experience in creating and implementing CAD standards.
- Experience and knowledge in manufacturing, construction, and building operations.
- Must have strong skills in AutoCAD and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Must have strong analytical skills.
- Ability to handle a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and demands.
