About the Role
This role supports the Head of Engineering Services in delivering the divisional strategy, focusing on high-quality property management for Savills clients and occupiers. The Head of Central London Engineering will implement the operational strategy, focusing on growth and the RISE initiative, while maintaining connectivity with Savills Property Management. The position requires cost control awareness, budgeting, statutory compliance, governance, and customer service excellence to ensure a world-class welcome service.
Responsibilities
- Develop the operational model across the commercial property management portfolio, spending time on-site to understand requirements and interface with leadership.
- Support the London Business Space team and Head of Engineering Services in developing and implementing a business plan focused on enhancing best practice.
- Consistently evolve the operational model by working with all elements of the business.
- Drive the development of customer service portals and lead the SEMS implementation.
- Assist in maximizing financial performance by reviewing cost recoverability and income generation, and contributing to financial reviews.
- Oversee day-to-day liaison with surveyors, RFMs, and operational staff to ensure clear communication.
- Align the Central London FM Network with RISE and ensure consistent engagement through sector cluster development.
- Ensure effective H&S and environmental compliance with all legal and statutory requirements.
- Identify and implement opportunities to bring service lines in-house.
- Work with internal service line leads to gather feedback and develop services.
- Attend pitches and support business development initiatives.
- Act as a mentor to junior members of the UK Engineering team, managing their development and progression.
- Develop individual training plans and Engineering modules for all UK Engineering staff, holding regular review meetings.
- Provide ad-hoc support, leadership, and guidance to managed sites, stepping in for interim on-site management as needed.
- Evaluate existing contractual relationships and ensure partner service delivery meets agreed specifications, reporting any shortcomings.
- Coordinate information production in line with Savills and client requirements.
- Carry out annual appraisals for direct reports and ensure 6-monthly reviews are completed.
- Act as Operational Client Relationship Manager for agreed clients and liaise with management surveyors.
- Lead the UK Engineering Hard services team for external industry awards applications, liaising with M&E management teams and service partners.
- Assist the Transitions team and on-site M&E management team with new building M&E mobilization.
- Arrange and hold quarterly Engineering meetings with M&E teams to discuss processes, procedures, and innovation.
- Ensure attendance at the Savills Tech Working Group to investigate and present on property management innovations.
- Lead contract management, including scheduling meetings, reviewing reports and KPIs, and ensuring maintenance contracts are in place.
- Monitor building systems via BMS and other means, performing checks on critical plant and escalating issues.
- Plan and execute audits/inspections of plant rooms and equipment, ensuring statutory compliance and risk management.
- Support energy conservation programs, conduct independent audits, and analyze reports to identify savings opportunities.
- Administer CAFM/PPM systems compliance, maintain asset registers and O&M documentation, and manage plant replacement programs.
- Lead tendering, analysis, and interviews, and manage contractor mobilization.
- Embed requisite engineering standards and operations manuals across managed buildings.
Requirements

- Experience and knowledge of achieving high standards in property management on multi-let sites.
- Knowledge and understanding in the preparation of service charge budgets, ensuring adherence to agreed times and costs.
- Understanding of operational property management, building infrastructure, operational engineering, and relevant statutory legislation.
- Strong overall experience in a similar position or operational leadership role.

Education Level
- A recognised H&S qualification by examination is required.
- Experience and/or working towards a professional qualification such as MIWFM or Assoc RICS or an equivalent engineering qualification is expected.
