About the Role
We are looking for a Health & Safety, Building Safety Act and CDM expert to lead and support all areas of our growing Home Claims department. You will ensure Health and Safety and CDM requirements, controls, measures, and assurance are clear, practical, and effective across all Home Claims activities and our supply chain.
Responsibilities
- Act as the lead subject matter expert for Health and Safety, Building Safety Act, and CDM requirements across Home Claims, providing clear advice, leadership, and support.
- Own and maintain the Home Claims Health and Safety and CDM framework, ensuring policies, accountabilities, operational controls, risk management, and escalation routes remain effective and fit for purpose.
- Lead regulatory, audit, and review actions, embedding improvements into sustainable business as usual controls and ways of working.
- Develop and oversee assurance, reporting, and MI, using insights to monitor compliance, identify emerging risks, and drive continuous improvement.
- Strengthen Health and Safety and CDM standards across suppliers and contractors, covering due diligence, onboarding, contractual requirements, governance, and ongoing assurance.
- Build Health and Safety capability across Home Claims through practical guidance, role-based training, and clear competency expectations, while providing effective oversight and constructive challenge.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience acting as the lead subject matter expert for Health and Safety, Building Safety Act, and CDM requirements across Home Claims.
- Demonstrable experience owning and maintaining the Home Claims Health and Safety and CDM framework.
- Demonstrable experience leading regulatory, audit, and review actions.
- Demonstrable experience developing and overseeing assurance, reporting, and MI.
- Demonstrable experience strengthening Health and Safety and CDM standards across suppliers and contractors.
- Demonstrable experience building Health and Safety capability across Home Claims.
- Deep practical knowledge of construction Health and Safety and CDM requirements, gained in property, building repairs, insurance, or a contractor-led environment.
- Solid experience translating technical or regulatory requirements into clear, workable controls and guidance.
- Experience of risk, controls, audit, or assurance, including supplier/contractor oversight.
- Experience of working within an insurer or similarly regulated industry, with strong knowledge of governance, regulatory compliance, supplier oversight, risk management, and assurance frameworks.
- Strong ability to act as the expert in Health and Safety, with the ability to influence at all levels and challenge constructively when requirements are not being met.
- A practical, collaborative, and customer-focused approach with strong judgment and clear communication skills.
