About the Role
This ten-week paid summer internship offers hands-on experience in pitching, reporting, and producing audio stories for the FT's flagship daily podcast, the FT News Briefing. You will develop ideas, present your work to US leadership, and gain valuable insights across the business, with mentorship from a dedicated Buddy.
Responsibilities
- Researching and pitching audio story ideas drawing from FT coverage in business, finance, and culture.
- Gathering tape and archive audio to enhance stories.
- Coordinating and recording interviews with FT journalists and guests.
- Producing and editing elements of the FT News Briefing under guidance.
Requirements
- Must be authorized to work in the US.
- Must be available from June 7, 2027 - Aug 13, 2027.
- Must submit application by October 26th by 5pm Eastern Time.

- Cover letter explaining fit, interest in joining, and passion for making financial news accessible.
- Applicants must refrain from using AI in writing tests or submitted materials.
- AI may be used for research and interview preparation, but its use is monitored.
Skills
- Journalism degree preferred
- Audio or podcast experience preferred (Internship or other courses)
- Good writing and editing skills
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Interest in finance and business news
- Experience working with Descript or similar editing software
