About the Role
The FT’s US newsroom internship offers aspiring journalists a front-row seat to the fast-paced world of global news. This is your chance to learn from and contribute to a dynamic multimedia newsroom that values curiosity, creativity, and sharp storytelling. No two days are the same. From breaking stories and in-depth research to innovative digital projects, you’ll work alongside editors and reporters to bring ambitious journalism to life. We’re looking for versatile, driven interns who are eager to dig into stories that matter and help shape how the world understands the news.
Responsibilities
- Pitching, reporting, and writing original news stories
- Conducting interviews and developing sources
- Assisting senior correspondents with research, document analysis and reporting
- Curating newsletters and contributing to digital projects
- Collaborating with staffers on special projects
Requirements
- Proven interest in journalism
- Some experience or knowledge of financial journalism, business, economics, or related areas
- Curiosity about global markets, companies, and economies
- Initiative to pitch and complete story ideas
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Excellent research and analytical skills
- Strong communication and writing skills across platforms
- Sound news judgment and high ethical standards
- Must be authorised to work in the US
- Available from June 7, 2027 - Aug 13, 2027
- Must submit application by October 26th by 5pm Eastern Time
- Must include resume, cover letter, and three writing samples/published clips
- Interns are expected to be in the office a minimum of three days a week
- Refrain from using AI in writing tests or written materials submitted during the application process
