About the Role

The Teen Youth Program Assistant will lead daily activities and engage youth in education-centered after school and summer youth programs, including homework/academic assistance, fitness, reading and enrichment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead meaningful activities including arts and crafts, STEM/STEAM, reading, character development, physical fitness, and nutrition in physical and online settings.
  • Prepare the learning environment, lessons, and supplies for program activities in-person and virtual settings.
  • Assist children with homework and academic enrichment activities.
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom and common areas.
  • Promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment embracing diversity.
  • Serve as a positive role model for participants.
  • Maintain accurate program documentation.
  • Ensure safety and supervision of students.
  • Assist Foundation Communities Food Pantries as needed.
  • Follow CDC Guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Comply with all required policies, procedures, and regulations.

Requirements

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States and pass a criminal background check.
  • Must have a high school diploma.
  • Must enjoy working with pre-teens/teens 6th – 12th grade.
  • Flexibility to meet changing work needs and demands.
  • Ability to lead fitness activities and supervise/participate in sports.
  • Ability to organize activities and make sound judgments.
  • Ability to interact with a range of age groups.
  • Available to work Monday through Friday (1:30pm-6:30pm) during the Afterschool program.
  • Available during Summer Program hours (10:00am-3:00pm), Monday through Friday with some variations.
  • Reliable transportation to travel to other FC sites as necessary.

Skills

  • Basic computer skills (navigating websites, email suites, search engines).
  • Proficiency in or willingness to learn online educational tools.
  • Ability to lead various fitness activities.
  • Ability to supervise/participate in sports.
  • Ability to organize activities.
  • Ability to make sound judgments.
  • Ability to interact with a range of age groups.

Work Type

Experience Level

  • 6 months' experience working with children (preferred)
  • Experience providing educational and/or social services to economically disadvantaged families (preferred)

Education Level

  • High school diploma
  • Course work in Social Services, Education, Child Development & other related field (preferred)

Salary/Compensations

  • Starting at $20.08/hourly
