About the Role
As a Libraries and Archives Apprentice, you will make a significant contribution to Westminster's ambition of developing the UK's most inclusive library service. You will provide inspirational spaces for community members to read, learn, and connect, acting as an ambassador for the service through various customer-facing duties.
Responsibilities
- Answering enquiries, offering information, and signposting to promote library facilities.
- Organizing and promoting an accessible service that encourages customers to develop skills in reading, learning, and connecting.
- Supporting customers in making informed choices about their health and wellbeing.
- Empowering customers to use self-service equipment, PCs, and other library resources.
- Organizing, promoting, and facilitating events for community connection.
- Developing an understanding of library operations, including health and safety, IT, and financial processes.
- Undertaking routine administrative tasks such as opening/closing the library, membership processing, stock management, timetabling, cash handling, and ordering supplies.
Requirements
- Enthusiastic reader and learner with a desire to share passion with library users.
- Well-developed knowledge and interest in literature, the arts, music, current affairs, and the wider world.
- Confident user of the internet, applications, platforms, computers, and other devices.
- Ability to demonstrate the use of technology to customers.
- Friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Collaborative team worker.
- Ability to connect with creative partners, stakeholders, and diverse communities.
- Committed to taking responsibility for own learning and development.
- Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths (support offered if not yet achieved).
