The incumbent will engage with donors and the broader private philanthropy ecosystem, including family offices, private banks, and wealth advisers, to access major donor networks.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and coordinate prospect research, wealth screening, and relationship mapping.
  • Develop documented cultivation and solicitation strategies for priority prospects and donors.
  • Prepare and deliver tailored donor approaches and solicitations to secure significant philanthropic commitments.
  • Develop and implement bespoke stewardship plans for assigned donors.
  • Cultivate relationships with family offices, private banks, wealth advisers, and other intermediaries.
  • Identify and coordinate high-level donor engagement opportunities.
  • Work with J4U's PPH colleagues, senior leadership, and Board to identify and activate relevant networks.
  • Collaborate with J4U’s Individual Giving and donor-development colleagues to establish pathways for identifying and transitioning suitable middle-value donors.
  • Develop high-quality donor-facing materials in Japanese and English.
  • Coordinate with relevant UNHCR operations, regional bureaux, PSP Asia, and the HQ Private Philanthropy team.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of prospects, donors, opportunities, and interactions in J4U’s CRM.
  • Monitor the health and progression of the assigned pipeline, contribute to income forecasting and annual planning.
  • Ensure that prospective and existing donor relationships are managed in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Monitor developments in Japan’s philanthropic and wealth-management landscape.
  • Contribute to emergency fundraising approaches for major donors and HNWIs when required.
  • Adapt global private-philanthropy best practices to the Japanese context and share learning.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
