About the Role
The Global Advertising and Brand Management (GABM) team drives marketplace demand and commerce for American Express products and services through innovative branding, marketing, and experiences. The Global Brand Sponsorships and Experiential Marketing team within GABM manages over 40 global partnerships, delivering exclusive access and engagement platforms across sports, music, and other cultural interests.
Responsibilities
- Support the strategy, creative development, and execution of sports activations, focusing on the Wimbledon partnership, including Card Member benefits, prospect engagement, live activation plans, digital extensions, branding, media utilization, and B2B hospitality.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver best-in-class plans from briefing through execution and measurement.
- Manage large budgets in partnership with the Finance team, ensuring adherence to internal processes and project completion within budget.
- Develop relationships across the American Express enterprise to create strategic sponsorship programs supporting B2B and B2C business priorities.
- Communicate regular updates and strategic activation plans clearly to team leadership.
- Support ad-hoc strategic sponsorship projects as needed.
- Represent American Express within the sports industry to deepen relationships and knowledge, staying at the forefront of customer experience.
- Travel is required to execute onsite programs.
Requirements
- 4+ years of work experience with a focus on sponsorship, large-scale events, and experiential marketing/partnerships.
- Proven track record in managing external partners, large-scale cross-functional teams, and agency partners across experiential, media, content, and PR.
- Experience in people leadership, including engagement in individual development plans.
- Expertise in navigating ambiguity and building strategy from the ground up to achieve team objectives.
- Ability to work under pressure with compressed timelines.
- Ability to balance multiple work streams while demonstrating strong leadership and composure.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and executive presence.
- Focus on innovation and a continuous desire to learn about experiential marketing, technology, payment innovations, and the competitive landscape.
- Strong measurement and analytical skills.
- Employment eligibility to work in the United Kingdom is required; visa sponsorship will not be pursued.
