About the Role
Minerva's Virtual Academy (MVA) is redefining school for 11-18 year olds as the UK’s fastest-growing independent online school. The Brand Manager will own and shape the MVA brand globally, setting brand strategy and executing campaigns. This role requires a blend of strategic oversight and hands-on execution, reporting to the CMO and collaborating with the marketing leadership team.
Responsibilities
- Set the brand strategy, defining MVA's positioning, promise, and personality with a multi-year growth plan.
- Conduct research into parent and student needs and perceptions of online education.
- Develop a narrative to reposition online schooling as a preferred choice, supported by evidence of outcomes and quality.
- Maintain and enforce the brand system, including visual identity, tone of voice, and messaging.
- Build reputation through partnerships, awards, press, alumni, and parent advocacy.
- Track brand health metrics (awareness, consideration, sentiment, share of voice, referral) and report on their impact on enquiries and enrolments.
- Plan and capture content (video, photos) of school activities, student achievements, and teacher stories, often remotely.
- Create diverse content including short-form video, social posts, articles, case studies, and web copy.
- Manage end-to-end brand campaigns, including briefing, creative development, channel planning, budgeting, and results analysis.
- Grow brand presence across social media, CRM, website, and events with a consistent content calendar.
- Identify and share student, parent, and alumni stories, and develop advocacy programs.
- Brief and manage external partners (freelancers, agencies, creators) and provide guidance for internal content creation.
- Test, measure, and refine content and campaign performance, sharing insights with relevant teams.
Requirements
- Proven experience in brand management or brand marketing, with at least 5 years in the field.
- Track record of setting brand strategy and executing campaigns that influenced perception and growth.
- Strong hands-on creative skills: video shooting/editing, photography, and compelling copywriting.
- Experience running multi-channel campaigns from conception to completion, including budget management and reporting.
- Comfort using data, research, and metrics for decision-making and impact assessment.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to present ideas to senior leaders.
- Must have a suitable home-working setup with a good internet connection.
- Must agree to company policies, including cybersecurity software.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Willingness to undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
- Understanding that online searches will be conducted as part of due diligence checks.
- Ability to move between big-picture strategy and detailed execution.
- Self-starter capable of working independently.
- Ability to tell stories with warmth and care, especially concerning children and families.
- Strong collaboration skills with remote colleagues across different time zones.
