About the Role
As an Operations Manager, you will be the ultimate leader of 5+ stores and their General Managers. Your primary responsibility is growing people by hiring, coaching, and developing a team of GMs. You will also own your area's P&L, driving strategic planning, prioritization, and execution to improve store performance. You will foster a culture of accountability, hospitality, and continuous improvement, reporting to the Director of Operations.
Responsibilities
- Coach GMs to build and maintain high hospitality standards through effective systems, behaviors, and processes.
- Monitor store standards via regular visits and data analysis, holding GMs accountable for addressing performance gaps.
- Actively participate in turning around struggling stores and launching new stores within the area.
- Translate quarterly sales forecasts into store-specific plans, communicating expectations to GMs regarding growth, slowdowns, seasonality, and new openings.
- Set quarterly labor targets, including headcount and inter-store transfers, and guide GMs in creating rotas.
- Assist GMs in calibrating inventory to match demand forecasts and establish clear guidelines to prevent overstocking or shortages.
- Develop GMs through training pathways, regular 1:1s, and direct feedback to prepare them for future leadership roles.
- Oversee the talent pipeline by calibrating hiring and promotion decisions and setting succession targets for all store positions.
- Foster an area-wide team culture that encourages knowledge sharing, mutual support, and a fast-moving, high-energy, collaborative, and fun environment.
- Master store KPIs and PnL, setting clear weekly and quarterly priorities for the area.
- Collaborate with GMs to develop store-specific plans and monitor progress towards achieving targets.
- Implement new initiatives, including menu launches and technology tools, across the area, ensuring clear communication, hands-on training, and team buy-in.
Requirements
- 5+ years of leadership experience in hospitality, retail, or another fast-growing consumer business.
- Experience leading multiple locations (3-10) and developing the managers who run them.
- Able to travel regularly between stores within your market.
- Full-time commitment: 50 hours per week.
- Must be available to work 5 days a week, including 2 peak days (typically weekend days: Friday, Saturday, Sunday).
Skills
- Passionate about hospitality and creating exceptional customer and employee experiences.
- Commercial thinking with strong operational and financial judgment.
- Ability to analyze data (P&L, KPI dashboards) and make informed decisions.
- Proven people leadership skills, including developing managers, hiring, coaching, decision-making, and leading through change.
- Strategic planning capabilities, including planning a quarter ahead and translating priorities into actionable plans.
- Excellent communication skills, both written (Slack, Notion, email) and verbal (area meetings, workshops).
