About the Role
RBC is seeking a candidate with an avid interest in financial markets to join the Australian Equity Research team. This role involves fundamental analysis of Australian companies within the Global Industrials sectors, providing research support to Lead Analysts, with a career pathway to assume lead coverage. The team provides investment research to institutional fund managers.
Responsibilities
- Understand company operations, market environment, and financial models.
- Build and update company financial models in Microsoft Excel.
- Understand and interrelate company financial statements (profit and loss, balance sheet, cashflow).
- Update historical company financials from public data sources.
- Forecast future earnings estimates based on key earnings drivers.
- Apply various company valuation methods (e.g., DCF, comparable company analysis).
- Generate high-quality research reports and presentations.
- Build and maintain databases of key industry data.
- Support Lead Analysts in responding to client queries.
- Identify key operational and earnings risks of companies under coverage.
- Establish industry contacts to form comprehensive views on companies and their operating environments.
Requirements
- Strong interest in equity markets and finance.
- Willingness to learn and analyze industry sectors and companies.
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Commerce, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar field.
- Minimum 2-3 years of full-time work experience, preferably in equity research or corporate finance.
- Excellent writing and communication skills for interacting with C-suite executives.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to source and summarize information from multiple data sources.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to travel when required.
