Responsibilities

  • Lead a small team in hardware (electronics) project management, including planning, controlling work packages, and responsibility for results, deadlines, and progress.
  • Develop platform, module, and device concepts with the technical project manager and architects, building deep overall system knowledge (ideally including basic RF measurements like power and spectrum).
  • Oversee and document multi-board and platform architecture, including hardware-software interfaces (board-to-board, control, power supply).
  • Coordinate collaboration between hardware, firmware, and software teams with other architects and prepare sound architectural decisions.
  • Manage device integration and verification; coordinate integration, production, and verification milestones between hardware and software, and with production part-project management.
  • Create and maintain product descriptions, test procedures, and data sheets; manage and be responsible for device-related approvals (Quality Gates).
  • Assess feasibility, effort, and risk of concepts and report transparently to the technical project manager; additionally, report to overall project management for impacts on deadlines, budget, or escalations.

Requirements

  • Completed degree in electrical engineering, communications engineering, or comparable education, with several years of relevant practical experience.
  • Proven experience in multi-board and platform hardware architecture (concept, partitioning, interfaces).
  • Solid knowledge in power management.
  • Understanding of FPGA and ARM sufficient to technically control firmware packages and interfaces.
  • Proficient in interface definition and documentation (ICD) as well as typical board-to-board and control interfaces.
  • Experience in device integration and verification, as well as in handling Quality Gates and device-level release processes.
  • Willingness to take on platform architecture and device responsibility in one role and to familiarize yourself with a complex overall system, including RF fundamentals.
  • Analytical and conceptual working style (assess and document feasibility, effort, and risk).
  • Fluent German and good English (spoken and written).
  • Experience with military supply requirements (e.g., MIL-STD-1275E) is a plus.
  • Experience in leading hardware development topics and coordinating external firmware teams is a plus.
  • Experience in Defense, Aerospace, or similarly regulated hardware projects is a plus.
