Responsibilities
- Design and develop system services for hardware platforms.
- Coordinate and implement interfaces to cloud components.
- Run prototype tests and support field tests.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for cross-compilation across both platforms.
- Ensure firmware quality before device rollout.
- Create and maintain product and test documentation.
- Collaborate closely with firmware, cloud, and hardware teams.
Requirements
- Experience developing embedded software for Linux-based systems, ideally across several target architectures (e.g., ARM and MIPS).
- Familiarity with cross-compilation toolchains and different build systems (e.g., Yocto/BitBake and OpenWRT-based environments).
- Knowledge of designing software for resource-constrained systems (memory, flash, performance).
- Proficiency in C/C++ and/or other embedded systems languages.
- Experience with network protocols and services in an embedded context (e.g., VPN, MQTT, systemd/NetworkManager).
- Hands-on and practical experience with hardware.
- Ability to test and validate software carefully before rollout to a large device fleet.
- Aptitude for finding and solving problems at the interfaces between components.
- Analytical approach to systematically find and clearly document errors.
- Ability to set up workflows independently and continuously improve systems.
- Strong communication skills and enjoyment of working with different teams and external partners.
- Fluent English speaking and writing skills.
- German language skills are a plus.
