About the Role

The Area Manager leads a team of Senior Business Banking Managers to deliver excellent outcomes for broker & circle of influence introduced customers, and proprietary customers. This role is responsible for acquisition, sales & revenue outcomes, customer experience, ensuring a well-managed and compliant business, and fostering an engaged workforce to deliver on the Commercial strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of bankers to maintain and leverage deep circle of influence & broker relationships to achieve new to bank customers.
  • Achieve overall sales & revenue performance measured by Business Lending FUM drawn and other cross-sell opportunities.
  • Ensure team productivity through efficient and proactive customer management via a sales operating rhythm, measured by response times & successful opportunity conversion.
  • Maintain overall accountability for a well-managed business concerning operational risk and credit risk.
  • Establish a coaching culture where bankers & leaders develop deep credit expertise, reach their full potential, and embrace learning.
  • Develop strong relationships, influence, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to solve complex problems, particularly with the remote banking team and leaders.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key referral partners.
  • Drive outstanding customer experience and outcomes measured through Net Promotor Score improvement.
  • Create a truly customer-focused culture with embedded practices like quality needs-based conversations, acting on customer feedback, and resolving complex complaints.
  • Deliver exceptional customer responsiveness through effective operational management, including resource planning, rostering, and operational efficiencies.

Requirements

  • Business Development: Partnering with individuals and/or organisations to pursue strategic initiatives, relationships, and/or opportunities to drive commercial value.
  • Coaching: Helping individuals progress through effective coaching techniques and strategies.
  • Stakeholder management: Identifying, understanding, and anticipating the needs of stakeholders to gain commitment.
  • Customer Solutioning: Supporting customers by understanding their needs and providing relevant products or services, or considered options.
  • Credit assessment and management: Assessing, advising, monitoring, and/or approving customer credit worthiness, credit risk, and suitable credit structuring options based on internal policies, guidelines, scoring models, and/or judgment.
  • Influencing: Gaining commitment from others through various techniques.
  • Relationship Management: Building, maintaining, and influencing relationships for mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Commercial acumen: Understanding the organisation, market, external and internal pressures, and trends to identify actions or strategies for efficiency and long-term value.
  • Strategy Development: Creating purpose, mission, and/or plans to achieve long-term goals, potentially related to customers, workforce, segments, or brand.
  • Problem solving: Identifying and critically evaluating problems, or interconnections and patterns across a broader system, to find and implement solutions.
  • A passion for helping Business Owners thrive.
  • Deep Commercial Credit experience – expertise in SBB lending processes & credit policy.
