About the Role

Data Intelligence Lab researches and develops advanced Deep Learning algorithms for sophisticated data analysis, prediction, and optimization of complex data. We aim to solve diverse business challenges within the group using practical, industry-applicable technologies, thereby enhancing operational efficiency, productivity, and product features. Specifically, the Industrial Optimization Tech Cell focuses on solving complex decision-making problems in areas like product design, manufacturing, and production operations using AI-based optimization techniques. We define real-world industrial problems as optimization challenges and research novel methodologies by combining Operations Research, Mathematical Optimization, Machine Learning, Reinforcement Learning, and Large Language Models (LLMs). We are particularly interested in leveraging LLMs' reasoning and tool-use capabilities to intelligentize the optimization workflow, including problem formulation, solution strategy development, and decision-making, with the goal of translating research outcomes into practical industrial systems and products.

Responsibilities

  • Define and solve Industrial Optimization problems.
  • Model real-world industrial problems such as product design, manufacturing, production planning, and resource allocation as mathematical optimization problems.
  • Analyze problem structures and constraints to design appropriate optimization methodologies and solution strategies.
  • Validate algorithm performance and business impact using real-world data.
  • Research and develop LLM-based Optimization.
  • Enhance the optimization problem-solving process using LLM's reasoning, planning, and tool-use capabilities.
  • Research LLM-based optimization agent technologies for problem formulation, solution strategy generation, and integration with solvers and simulators.
  • Develop novel optimization methodologies by combining Operations Research, Machine Learning, and Reinforcement Learning.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Understanding of Operations Research and Mathematical Optimization.
  • Experience in research or development related to optimization, including Mathematical Programming, Combinatorial Optimization, and Sequential Decision-Making.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and define them as mathematical or data-driven problems.
  • Development capabilities to implement research ideas and validate them through experiments.
