About the Role
As a Pest Control Officer, you will make a significant contribution to Westminster's success by discharging statutory obligations to keep the City of Westminster free of vermin. You will deliver a customer-focused, high-quality service, advising on treatments and preventative measures, conducting site surveys, and coordinating pest destruction treatments.
Responsibilities
- Advise complainants and staff on suitable pest treatments and preventative measures.
- Carry out surveys of sites and premises.
- Coordinate and carry out treatments using approved methods for pest destruction.
- Undertake block treatment and sewer baiting programmes.
- Collect and dispose of clinical waste.
- Keep proper records of work carried out.
- Monitor pesticide and equipment use via the stock control register.
- Ensure council-issued IT equipment is charged and operating correctly.
- Keep vehicles clean, tidy, and maintained.
- Participate in the call-out roster for emergencies outside normal working hours.
- Assist with other non-recurring duties appropriate to the role.
Requirements
- RSPH Level 2 in Pest Management or equivalent.
- Experience of operational pest control.
- Ability to use a wide variety of information systems and technology.
- Capable of planning, delivering, and coordinating projects and workload.
- Strong customer focus.
- Friendly, approachable, and empathetic demeanor.
- Confident communicator.
- Ability to work unsupervised in accordance with agreed programmes.
- Ability to write concise reports and keep written and computerised records of casework.
- Strong understanding of and commitment to working safely.
