About the Role
Mohawk Global is seeking bright-minded students to provide value-add contributions as a Supply Chain Operations Intern in our Rochester, NY and Buffalo, NY offices. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, detail-oriented individual excited to showcase analytical skills and a business-minded background within the fast-paced logistics and freight forwarding industry. This internship will directly impact Mohawk's ability to provide exceptional client service and maintain its industry leadership.
Responsibilities
- Support branch operations with respect to imports, including opening shipment files and auditing documentation.
- Efficiently match available freight loads with available carrier options.
- Track shipments, contact carriers, perform data entry and analysis to support decision making, filing, and other duties as instructed by the Leadership team.
- Assist with industry research using the internet.
- Participate in meetings to observe company processes and enhance learning.
- Communicate regularly with carriers and agents to build long-term, trusted partnerships and sell Mohawk services.
- Negotiate pricing and prepare quotes for clients.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve departmental goals.
Requirements
- Matriculated rising undergraduate student majoring in business, logistics, supply chain management or related discipline.
- Experience in negotiating with service providers and problem solving for mutual benefit (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word and Outlook.
Skills
- Polished, professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong attention to accuracy and detail.
- Ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment and be receptive to professional feedback regarding developmental opportunities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Self-motivated.
