About the Role
The main purpose of this role is the preparation of vehicles for London hire, inspection of new vehicles to site, and general duties in connection with the London Hire Fleet of vehicles. Ensure all vehicles are thoroughly prepared for ongoing rental in terms of cleanliness, levels, and tyre pressures, paying attention to any pre or post rental damage as part of the quality inspection process.
Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicles for delivery to customers, ensuring correct documentation is available, the vehicle is clean (internally and externally), checked for defects, and correct safety equipment and seating are installed.
- Carry out regular manual handling duties, including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling moving equipment, and cleaning materials in a safe manner and in accordance with company procedures and manual handling guidelines.
- Check in new vehicles, verifying correct documentation and compliance with the specification on the “New Vehicle Acceptance Sheet”.
- Check in and inspect vehicles being returned from hire.
- Record all vehicles collected or returned by customers in the daily diary and complete documentation.
- Work to set timeframes and targets to ensure vehicles are ready for customer collection.
- Carry out minor repairs and visual checks on fluid levels and tyres.
- Clean vehicles as required prior to delivery.
- Liaise with visiting contractors, ensuring awareness of site safety rules.
- Arrange for defective equipment to be repaired.
- Use and maintain all issued equipment in accordance with instructions, Health and Safety rules and regulations.
- Carry out regular inspections of the yard, ensure it is tidied daily, and all debris is removed.
- Report any defects or health and safety issues in the vehicle yard to a Manager, completing a site defect report as required.
- Carry out daily checks of equipment to ensure it is working correctly, log any defects, and arrange for repairs where necessary.
- Compile a weekly yard list of vehicles for the Yard Supervisor.
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to deliver world-class customer service.
- Self-motivation with the ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to multi-task.
