About the Role

Lead Qantas's data product transformation journey, converting demand into a coherent portfolio of governed data products. This role is accountable for the data product portfolio, ensuring adoption, service standards, and the definition of data product standards for Qantas.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team of Data Product Leads, representing the function at programme, technology, and executive governance forums.
  • Champion the Data Product outcome for Qantas.
  • Own and prioritize the enterprise data product portfolio across Qantas Airways, QantasLink, and shared business functions.
  • Resolve competing demand and ensure alignment with enterprise value and platform standards.
  • Manage the portfolio roadmap, delivery commitments, dependencies, risks, capacity, and investment requirements.
  • Maximize portfolio value through reuse of certified data products, robust value cases, benefit tracking, total cost-of-ownership management, and prevention of duplicate or shadow data estates.
  • Lead migration from legacy data platforms to the modern data platform (Snowflake), ensuring validated business acceptance, consumer adoption, retirement of superseded assets, and realization of cost and risk reductions.
  • Establish and embed the data product operating model, securing accountable business owners, maintaining catalogue records, aligning with data governance, and equipping owners to manage product purpose, value, priority, and adoption.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in data and analytics, including leadership accountability for enterprise-scale data products, platforms, or analytics delivery in a large, complex organization.
  • Proven ownership of an enterprise data product or analytics portfolio, including prioritization, lifecycle management, product standards, and delivery accountability.
  • Deep knowledge of data product practices, including data-as-a-product, product boundaries, data contracts, interfaces, discoverability, certification, and domain ownership.
  • Strong portfolio delivery discipline across multiple teams, including estimation, dependency management, forecasting, and delivery to agreed scope, cost, schedule, and quality.
  • Experience establishing data product or ownership operating models, securing business accountability, and leading senior people leaders through change and ambiguity in a matrixed environment.
  • Ability to develop investment cases, quantify funding and capacity gaps, manage budgets and third-party spend, and secure executive support.
  • Strong commercial judgment and executive influence, balancing immediate business needs with long-term value, reuse, and platform alignment.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud data architecture, legacy migration, governance, quality, privacy, and classification.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical trade-offs clearly to senior non-technical audiences.
