About the Role
The RHY Prevention Counseling Program Manager is responsible for the management and supervision of RHY Prevention Counselors, playing a leadership role in planning, prioritizing, and evaluating services, team outreach, and linkages with other providers. The Manager will assess the team's service, identify expansion potential, evaluate community needs, and formulate responses.
Responsibilities
- Review and monitor OASAS contract objectives and maintain the New York State Safe Harbour database.
- Engage in ongoing planning and program development for assessment, counseling, and outcomes.
- Promote and develop effective linkages with community resources, providers, and systems.
- Assess the needs of youth and families served.
- Ensure compliance with record keeping, reporting, and evaluation requirements from the agency and funders.
- Supervise, guide, mentor, and evaluate the performance of Counselors and Advocates.
- Hire, train, orient, and mentor new counseling staff.
- Coordinate and lead team outreach activities.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Counseling, Human Services or related field AND 5 years' human service experience with supervisory experience OR equivalent.
- CPP/ ICPS/ CASAC certification or advanced training in chemical dependency prevention preferred.
- A valid driver's license.
- Must participate in the On-Call Supervisor rotation (1 week, every 5-6 weeks) for after-hours and weekend support.
- All offers may be contingent on a background check, driving record, and automobile insurance that meets agency insurance carrier requirements.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of Chemical dependency and problem gambling prevention counseling.
- Strong management and supervisory techniques.
- Crisis intervention, case management, advocacy, and strength-based problem solving and decision-making models.
- Strong knowledge of Adolescent development including: positive youth development, asset development, risk reduction and protective factors.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Strong literacy and communication skills.
