About the Role

Design and develop PCB layouts for embedded control units in the industrial and automotive sectors. This role involves implementing analog, digital, and power electronic circuit designs into manufacturable multi-layer PCBs, ensuring compliance with industry standards like IEC61508 and ISO26262 throughout the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Create and advance PCB layouts for embedded control units in industrial and automotive applications.
  • Translate analog, digital, and power electronic circuit designs into manufacturable multi-layer PCB layouts.
  • Support development from concept through layout design, prototyping, and system integration, adhering to IEC61508 and ISO26262.
  • Ensure adherence to design specifications for signal integrity, power integrity, EMC, thermal management, manufacturability, and cost.
  • Generate and maintain PCB documentation, including manufacturing data, bills of materials, layer stacks, and design guidelines.
  • Conduct design reviews, Design Rule Checks (DRC), and assist with schematic and layout reviews.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware, mechanical, test, and manufacturing engineers, as well as external PCB manufacturers and assembly service providers.
  • Coordinate complex layout tasks involving multiple technical interfaces and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of design standards, libraries, and PCB development processes.
  • Take ownership of sub-projects and develop towards technical project management.

Requirements

  • Completed degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Communications Engineering, or a comparable technical qualification.
  • Several years of experience in PCB layout for complex embedded hardware systems.
  • Proficient knowledge in developing multi-layer PCBs for high-speed digital signals, precise analog circuits, and power electronics.
  • Experience in implementing EMC-compliant layouts, considering signal integrity, manufacturability, quality, and series production.
  • Knowledge of PCB design processes, including stack-up definition, design rules, constraint management, DFM (Design for Manufacturing), and DFA (Design for Assembly).
  • Proficient use of PCB design tools such as Altium Designer, Pulsonix, Mentor Graphics/Xpedition, or similar systems.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining component libraries, footprints, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Knowledge of automotive development processes and experience with ISO26262 are advantageous.
  • Structured, independent, and quality-oriented work style, with strong team and communication skills.
  • Very good German (C1) and good English language skills.
