About the Role
As a Process Engineer, you will develop and evaluate process engineering solutions for energy and heat infrastructure projects. You will create the essential process and design fundamentals for the plants and ensure that technical, safety, approval-related, and operational requirements are integrated into a consistent and implementable solution. You will work in multidisciplinary project teams and contribute to the transformation of our generation sites.
Responsibilities
- Develop, dimension, and evaluate district heating, energy generation, and process engineering plant systems for transformation and infrastructure projects.
- Create and be responsible for core process engineering documents, including process flow diagrams, P&IDs, heat and mass balances, and calculations and designs for thermal and hydraulic systems.
- Define process engineering, thermal, and hydraulic requirements, boundary conditions, operating states, system boundaries, and interfaces as a basis for technical planning and design of the overall plant.
- Evaluate technical solution variants for generation and district heating systems, considering safety, approval feasibility, economic viability, operational behavior, and technical feasibility.
- Review and evaluate process engineering concepts, calculations, planning documents, and supplier documentation, and approve work results within your area of responsibility.
- Manage and coordinate process engineering contributions from internal departments, external planning offices, suppliers, and contractors within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Participate in safety reviews, approval processes, technical tenders, bid evaluations, and technical acceptances and performance certifications.
- Support process engineering solutions throughout all project phases, from concept development through planning and realization to commissioning and technical handover, and feed back insights into standards and best practices.
Requirements
- Completed university degree in process engineering, energy and environmental technology, chemical engineering, or a comparable qualification.
- Relevant professional experience in the engineering of process engineering plants and in the planning or implementation of complex infrastructure or energy projects.
- Sound knowledge in process design and in the design of process engineering, thermal, and hydraulic systems.
- Ideally, experience in the field of district heating, energy generation, or comparable industrial plants.
- Experience in handling technical issues across multiple project phases, from concept development through planning and realization to commissioning.
- Familiarity with relevant technical regulations, safety requirements, and regulatory and approval-related specifications.
- Confident in collaborating within multidisciplinary project teams and capable of technically coordinating internal and external project stakeholders.
- Fluent German language skills at least at C1 level (as the primary language of work) and good English language skills.
- Approximately 70 percent of the requirements are sufficient for application.
