About the Role
The MMTP LPN dispenses medication to patients with opioid use disorder and actively participates in the interdisciplinary treatment team to provide medical and clinical services.
Responsibilities
- Dispenses and administers prescribed medication, maintaining accountability, adequate record keeping, and documentation.
- Assesses and verifies the last methadone dose for patients returning from the hospital, detox, etc.
- Carries out MD/PA orders and assists during crisis, emergencies, and other procedures.
- Works collaboratively with Physician, Director, and other staff as part of the treatment team.
- Participates in clinic meetings and interdisciplinary case conferences with clinical staff.
- Assists in coordinating medication deliveries for appropriate patients.
- Assesses patients and provides patient care within the scope of practice.
- Promotes a positive, constructive clinic atmosphere.
- Maintains knowledge of all state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, program policies and procedures, and the role of a nurse in its operations, including confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
- Performs other duties as required by the supervisor.
Requirements
- License to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State or Licensed Practical Nurse meeting above criteria within 3 years.
- 2 years of experience in a substance abuse services environment preferred.
- Demonstrates clinical competence and leadership traits, including decision-making ability, problem-solving skills, communication skills, prioritizing, and team building.
- Must be able to perform essential duties, including climbing stairs, lifting 15 lbs, and responding to patient medical emergencies.
- Must be vaccinated against COVID-19 and stay up to date with recommended vaccines and booster shots.
